Home of the Houn’ Dawgs
Aurora, Missouri is a colorful town rich in history and full of spirit. We have taken every opportunity to bring our community together through multiple programs: Aurora Beautification Company, Project RISE (Reaching Independence through Support and Education), the Youth Empowerment Program, and more.
All our efforts are aimed towards making every person in our community better. Aurora is an amazing community which supports new ideas and is full of people who want to learn and grow. After all, we are ONE TOWN. ONE TEAM. ONE HEARTBEAT.
Together, We’ll Grow
“Aurora is a wonderful town with great schools, lots of community spirit, a rich history, and is a great place to work, play, and raise a family.” – Jack Muench, Create Here Lead
Named after the Roman Goddess of the Dawn, Aurora is nestled near the Barry/Lawrence County lines where people are: rooted in history and not afraid of hard work.
In Aurora, everyone is interested in helping one another out. Additionally, there is a strong sense of community where it’s easy to be a part of and everyone is welcomed. Not to mention, Aurora’s Chamber of Commerce and community leaders are always there to assist any new business ventures in the city.
According to Shannon Walker, Executive Director of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, 11 new businesses have opened in the city in the last two years. In the last 18 months, there have been 31 new businesses that have applied for a business license in Aurora. The current economic environment of the city is open, inviting, and steadily growing. We are looking forward to the future of Aurora and we’re excited to welcome you to our team.
Once a Houn’ Dawg,
Always a Houn’ Dawg
The city actively works alongside community members to help families become financially independent through Project RISE. In March 2019, eight amazing families graduated from the initial phase of the project. The families’ determination and support of community leaders helps move this project along and succeed.
ABC (Aurora Beautification Company) is another program which has support from community leaders. Its mission is to improve the aesthetics within the city by removing neglected buildings. ABC has seen much progress and results since 2014 when it was first established. Within less than a year, the organization removed its first building and has since demolished five more.
Additionally, through multiple community engagement projects, leadership students are given the opportunity to give back to their community and have a voice in bettering their home. All of these programs work together as one team to help Aurora grow and move forward.
